Health and Well-Being

The WHO constitution states: “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” An important implication of this definition is that mental health is more than just the absence of mental disorders or disabilities.

The three sides that make up the health triangle and contribute to your overall health are:

  • Physical Health.
  • Mental Health.
  • Social Health.

Someone with good physical health is most likely to have normal to optimum bodily functions working in top shape. It is not the absence of an illness that determines good health but regular exercise, good nutrition and rest contribute to healthy body.

A sound mental means you are in a state of complete wellness where you are happy and function well in the society or environment you live in. According to the World Health Organization, good mental health is when you can: cope with the normal stresses of life. work productively.

Being socially healthy is experiencing happiness in your surroundings and having a sense of belonging and concern for others around you. As we grow and become independent, social ties build their place in and around our lives and we start belonging to different communities like clubs, educational institutes like school / college and then our workplace like offices etc.

Experts consider exercise of the body, a good nutrition, relaxation and sleep a very important part of our healthy living. While our physical health is very important, our emotional and social health needs to be at par for complete wellness.
